Bay Area music producer Gabe “G$” Carmona remains a creative force rooted in the soul of hip-hop. From his earliest days in the studio, Gabe was driven as a “gearhead” by a love for the culture—sampling records, rockin’ drum machines, flipping beats, and laying down raw cuts that spoke to life in the streets. He shares, “I couldn’t afford much, so I loved going to the studios or music stores where the gear was fresh. What can I say? I fell in love with so many toys. I’ll show my age here but rocking keys such as Yamaha DX7, Ensoniq ASR-10s, Kurzweil K2000, TASCAM PortaStudio (4-track cassette) lol, and even Alesis SR-16s, Roland TR-808s and 707s. What started as a hustle just to make beats quickly became a calling.”

Known for his gritty yet cinematic sound, Carmona set out on a mission to bridge the gap between street stories and mainstream media.
